Being part of our PACK is a privilege. This privilege comes with both rights and responsibilities. Your players have rights as members of the PACK – the Right to be respected, to feel safe, to experience the game at their level. These rights help them feel appreciated and valued. Their Rights as PACK members work in concert with their Responsibilities as the guiding principles for the team. The PACK is greater than any single wolf. Our Pack is accountable to each other to honor everyone’s Rights; while faithful living up to our Responsibilities.

Our Packs are made up of individual players. As a member of our team, each individual player has certain Rights. And just as important, each individual player has Responsibilities to the other members of the team - opposite sides of the same coin. This is a critical relationship/dynamic to understand.

Players’ Rights and Responsibilities become a true operational framework for how our Pack collectively functions and thrives. Everyone’s actions, attitudes and choices are guided and shaped by this framework.

Within this framework, we can shape our coaching behaviors. Rights allow us to see clearly what each individual player needs. Responsibilities illustrate necessary behaviors and attitudes from an individual player to be a welcomed and highly effective member of the Pack. Rights and Responsibilities establish our agreed upon standard.

Our standard serves as a roadmap. The Rights and Responsibilities framework allows us to focus our coaching on necessary behaviors and attitudes. Being in agreement with each player permits us to stay on the issue and not on the player. An environment of growth and excellence is co-created.

If we and the players are doing everything right, the result is experiencing the joy of playing our sport.

I understand and agree that for every Right that I have there is a Responsibility

that I must accept and act on in order to have and keep that Right.

Stay tuned & join us next week. We’ll share the Players’ Rights and Responsibilities.
