End of season celebrations are critical for closure. These celebrations remind everyone of the importance of our team values and beliefs about sport.
Another season for the Falcons has come to an end. Runs. Bunts. Throws. Catches. Smiles. Tears. Thrills. Struggles. Success. Failure. Memories. Friendships. And Joy! The season had all the right ingredients. It’s time to celebrate!
Our end of season celebration takes place at a local pizza shop. Our Pack, the Falcons and their families, and coaches gather together one final time. We share stories, recall memories, and recognize individually the efforts and successes of each Falcon player.
Championships and victories are celebrated right alongside each Falcon’s individual journey through-out the season. Individual awards and certificates are presented. The awards for the Falcons are creative and personalized. Some have been created by the coaches, some by the parents, and some by the Falcons themselves. Everyone celebrates everyone!
Closing the book on one season provides everyone space to move forward with their hearts and spirits full. We are excited for what’s ahead - some of us for another season with the Falcons, some moving up an age category and a new team, some off to the marching band, and so on. Everyone moves on with a sense of joy and fulfillment from their season with the Falcons.
The celebrations are over - the players and their parents are saying their farewells; the waiters are cleaning up; but the coaches’ responsibilities are not yet completed.
It’s time for us to turn toward another important and critical part of bringing closure to the season - the coaches reflection conversation.
Well, Allison and Joe, we agreed a few weeks ago that we would have our “Reflections” conversation after the celebrations. Can we do that next week?
Joe: I’m starting a new evening course at the University in three weeks so the sooner the better for me.
Allison: Next week is good. Vacation time is coming up. Juan and I are taking a Road Scholar trip to Paris next month.
Great - How about Tuesday next week at Doug’s Donuts? Four o’clock? Okay. Here's a possible agenda for the session. Take a look at it and add or subtract. Send your thoughts over email.
Excited to reflect on the season!
